UPTU-Uttar Pradesh Technical University

UPTU the only state university of UP. Currently there are two state universities being run in Uttar Pradesh viz. MTU (Mahamaya Technical University) and GBTU (Gautam Buddha Technical University) as state universities. Earlier, back in 2010, there used to be only single state university of Uttar Pradesh which was known as UPTU. But during BSP rule, under the CMship of Shree Mayawati, this university was partitioned in two parts : MTU and GBTU.

But as of now, under the CM ship of Akhilesh Yadav, the proposal to combine these universities to single university, passed by Technical education department has been approved. And now it can be concluded that “UPTU the only state university of UP ”
Technical Education Department stated many reasons in their proposal to justify “Why it was necessary to have only a single university in UP”. Some of the points stated by technical council were:

• A lot of confusion is spread in students regarding any information in universities.
• Differences  in Pattern and syllabus of both the universities.
• Type of education schedule is also different.
• Two different datesheets are released during examination seasons of both the universities.
• Separate degrees for students from both universities.
• A lot of Chaos among students.

To validate their points, council also gave the example of Tamil Nadu state University, which was partitioned into three different state universities pertaining to political decisions which were later on combined to only one single university to avoid any type of problems with students and health of state education. 
This decision is to be implemented in near future and students can expect to have only one state university in UP which will be known as Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU)
