Test for Admission
Admission to all the government engineering colleges and most of the private engineering colleges in India is through a combined entrance test as well as respective university level or college level entrance test of a particular college.
Most of the entrance exams are based on class XI and class XII syllabus of the central board or the state board. However, there are some entrance exams which are based on class XII syllabus of their respective state boards.

Nature of Test
IIT-JEE (Indian Institute of Technology – Joint Entrance Exam)
There are two Question Papers of three hours duration, each consisting of separate sections in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Questions in these papers will be of objective type, which are to be answered on a specially designed machine-gradable sheet using HB pencils only. Incorrect answers will be awarded negative marks.
AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Exam.)
The exam consists of two papers i.e., 1st paper consisting of three parts of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of equal weightage with objective type questions for B.E./B.Tech courses and 2nd Paper – consisting of Mathematics, Aptitude Test and Drawing for B. Architecture and B. Planning.
VITEEE (Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam)
The question paper contains 4 parts. All Questions will be of Objective Type.

PART-I – Physics
PART-II – Chemistry
PART-III – Mathematics      
PART-IV – Biology 
  1. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics candidates shall attempt PARTS – I, II & III.
  2. Physics, Chemistry and Biology candidates shall attempt PARTS–I, II & IV.
  3. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology candidates can attempt either Part-I, II, III or Part-I, II, IV as per their choice.
  4. Each part has 40 questions and each question carries one mark. Each question is followed by 4 alternative answers. No negative marks for wrong answers.

BIT SAT (Birla Institute of Technology & Science Aptitude Test)
It is a computer adaptive test, where in all questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions); each question with choice of four answers, only one being correct choice. Each correct answer fetches 3 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark. No marks are awarded for not attempted questions. While the candidate can skip a question, the computer will not allow the candidate to choose more than one option as correct answer.
